Revision

alright,
It is a lovely friday afternoon and i am going to get some thinking done, not just any thinking but specifically thinking related to computer science, you know the thinking that transforms collage students into multi-billionaires overnight. Yes that thinking!!

Now were where we, right i was wondering around looking for a problem as one faced with the task of finding one for his computer studies project tends to do, i came across an all to familiar site for most of us except for the saved amoung us who opted to go for the advanced diploma, yes i am atalking about revision. If i were to create some sort of revision aid, thats right something related to the act of trying to swallow the knowledge you have accumulated in your years of ib in one single night. Suppose if i were to make a quiz software, this would be a data base of sorts were users have a question and are given 4 options to choose from and a hidden field could indicate the right answer. hmm...how about pictures??, i am not sure if i could do the same thing with pictures though.

another revision guide i could try would be.....a calender of sorts that alerts users when they have a test but calenders are rather hard to do.......frankly i would choose pictures over callenders any day of the week, but this could just be because i haven't fiddled around with callenbders at all!!

perhaps what i sohould do is too look at some java code that successfully incorporates callenders, i will cross refernece this with my current criteria and i will look using comuting terms at the feasability of making callender based software.

My dossier

i have a dossier to complete by the 11th of December. now, what i have to do is find a problem. However easy this may seem to be, what i cant do is make up a problem, in effect i have to go around to all the people i know and ask them quite literally what their problem is and if i could be of any assistance at all.

What i am doing at the moment is or at least hoping to do at the moment is to think of all the i know who have problems and try to think about IT solutions for those people.

the first person i thought off was my father, he has a passion for books and frequently borrows from the hong kong public library. However, organized he may be, he does on occasion miss his deadline and because of the sheer volume of books he borrows he ends up paying fines that quite frankly might make Hong Kong public libraries reconsider their naming.

Library books can be renewed about six times and each renewal extends the keepability of a book by two weeks. I just remembered that i read something in Johns blog that hinted at calenders and how it is a really popular choice. My programing skills are not as good as i would like them to be but the fact that library books renewal is pretty inflexible might hide the nail under the pillow.

i will continue my hunt for a problem that is legitimate but easy to solve using a computer, perhaps my grandparents.....
